Mr Kwakye Ameyaw, Managing Director of Dormaa Timber Sellers and Wood Processing Association has accused their counterparts Dormaa Wood Village of sabotaging efforts of the Lawyer Kwaku Asoma Cheremeh, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to clamp down on the activities of illegal chain saw operations.
According to him the group led by their Chairman Mr Kofi Owusu, a strong NDC activist are moving everything on earth to thwart the effort of the minister in his quest to end illegal chainsaw operations.
He said as part of efforts to minimize the depletion of forest reserves and protect water bodies, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister has taken tough measures against illegal chain-saw operators in the region, which is having a heavy toll on their operations and have therefore resulted to diabolic measures.
Speaking in a press conference at Dormaa he narrated that Mr Kofi Owusu Chairman of the wood village, and a strong NDC activist, recently held a press conference accusing the Regional Minster of extorting money from chainsaw operators but he said such allegations are false and as industry players such thing have never occurred but the falsehood are only to thwart the efforts of the minister in fighting the canker.
He said ever since the minister started the clamp down, the wood village, that sponsored the NDC in the 2016 elections have not been able to supply their clients whom they have already taken huge sums of money from therefore they are doing everything within their means sabotage him so they can continued their business.
